ISRAEL ENGAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY
As many of you know, our work to engage students with Israel on college campuses is challenging. We have continually risen to the challenge and found ways for students to meaningfully and authentically develop a relationship with Israel, advocate on behalf of the Jewish state, and travel on Birthright-Israel and Perspectives Tour trips. But to do this work successfully and impactful, we need your philanthropic support to make it happen.
Sponsor our Annual Yom Ha’atzmaut Block Party ($3,600/year).
Sponsor one or both of our Israel Shabbatot ($1,800/dinner).
Sponsor a Birthright-Israel reunion for students to reconnect with their trip-mates ($1,000/reunion).
Sponsor one, two, or three of our coalition building efforts across our campuses ($1,000/event).
Provide non-Jewish students with the opportunity to explore Israel first-hand through our Perspectives Tour Trip ($100,000/year).
Sponsor SF Hillel’s Israel Professional to ensure our Israel-related work is accessible for every student ($50,000/year).
While we are without a full-time Israel Professional this year, due to the increase in antisemitism and anti-Zionist rhetoric on all of our campuses, we have hired a part-time Israel Educator thanks to an emergency grant from Hillel International. Help us increase this part-time professional's work capacity by sponsoring this critical role.
leadership development
Support the UC Law SF student leaders of JLSA (Jewish Law Student Association) develop their leadership skills on campus and in the community by sponsoring a leadership training ($2,000/year).
Provide our 30 Design Tribe fellows with two leadership retreats ($10,000/year or $5,000/retreat).
Sponsor mentorship for the Design Tribe cohort of student leaders ($10,000/year).
Provide our Design Tribe fellows with a programming budget to create fun, innovative, and engaging Jewish programs for their peers ($50,000/year).
Support seniors as they navigate their last year of college and prepare for the "real world" by sponsoring our Senior Seminar Series ($3,000/year).
Engagement opportunities
Engagement is the core component for meeting students. Through coffee conversations, campus meet-ups, and events like Bagel Club, we provide low-barrier opportunities for students to connect with our staff and their peers. With a donation of $54, you'll provide engagement for one student this year.
Each staff member can hold relationships with 180 students, according to Hillel Internationals Measuring Excellence guidelines. To help SF Hillel reach 180 new students, consider sponsoring an engagement professional position ($50,000/year).
Social Justice
Our students love to engage in social justice and volunteer opportunities, locally, across the country, and abroad. And, those opportunities often come at a high cost to pay for flights, materials, food and lodging. With your generous support, we hope to relieve students of the monetary burden so that they can focus their efforts on doing good work in the community and beyond.
This year, students will be going to Urban Adamah during their spring break to volunteer on the land. There they will engage with Jewish texts, while tending to the land to harvest food to be given to those in need in the community. The cost of the trip is ~$800/student.
Sponsor a caffeinated student
America "runs on Dunkin", but our students are less picky about where their coffee comes from, as long as they're caffeinated. For $180, you can keep a student leader caffeinated for a semester.
Why coffee? Typically a student's first meeting with Hillel is over coffee. It's a low-barrier way for students to meet our professionals and all that Hillel has to offer them.
