L'dor v'dor, from generation to generation. Our tradition says we have a responsibility to pass on the wisdom and rituals of Judaism to the next generations. As an alumni, you remember how vital it is to have an inclusive, Jewish community during the transformative years of college and graduate school.
To ensure the next generation of students will have a vibrant, Jewish campus community to guide them on their journey, subscribe to a monthly donation. -
To ensure our work continues, support SF Hillel by joining Shorashim: Roots. Either by becoming a Sponsor through our sponsorship levels or subscribing to a monthly payment of your choosing you will help sustain your child's Jewish college community. We are grateful for your support and for the chance to work with your child.
When you join Shorashim: Roots, you are growing the foundational roots for the Jewish future. -
Life insurance is a compelling way to protect your family — and it can be used to make charitable gifts, too! Naming Hillel International as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy allows you to create a meaningful legacy for Jewish college students, from generation to generation, l’dor v’dor.
Perhaps the original purpose for a policy no longer applies (the house is paid off, the children graduated and are earning income, etc.). Changing the beneficiary of your policy can be a powerful and straightforward way to support the Hillel movement. Or you can initiate a new insurance policy, naming Hillel as owner and beneficiary; your tax-deductible gifts fund premiums!
Watch a video about gifts of life insurance, or contact Charlie from Hillel International to learn more about Hillel International’s robust life insurance program! Make sure you designate your gift to San Francisco Hillel. -

How to make a gift of stocks and bonds
By electronic transfer - Please download these instructions or contact Emily for information on how you can transfer stock or bonds from your brokerage or investment account to San Francisco Hillel.
By certified mail - If you hold securities in certificate form, you will need to mail two envelopes separately to complete your gift. In the first envelope, place the unsigned stock certificate(s). In the other envelope, include a signed stock power for each certificate. You may obtain this power from your broker or bank. Please remember to use certified mail.
More on gifts of stocks and bonds:
There are special rules for valuing a gift of stock. The value of a charitable gift of stock is determined by taking the mean between the high and low stock price on the date of the gift. Mutual fund shares are valued using the closing price for the fund on the date of the gift.

The best way to ensure a sustainable, vibrant Jewish future is by leaving a legacy of support.
For more than 100 years, Hillel has been, and will continue to be, there to support, nurture, and guide Jewish college students — our next Jewish leaders. You can ensure that Jewish students can count on Hillel for another 100 years with a legacy gift to Hillel.
Please contact our Director of Development, Emily, to learn more about leaving a lasting legacy for San Francisco Jewish students or fill out a Declaration of Intent today. Make sure to select "Local Hillel" and put "San Francisco Hillel" to ensure your legacy stays in San Francisco. -
You can leave a legacy to perpetually support the causes you love with an endowment gift. An endowment is a fund you can create now or in the future to achieve the impact you desire. The income earned on your endowment will provide lasting annual support to your charitable causes.
You enjoy several benefits with an endowment gift:Establish an endowment during your lifetime and see the impact each year
Benefit from an income tax deduction in the year you make your gift
Avoid capital gains tax on an endowment gift of appreciated property
How an endowment gift works:You make an initial gift to fund an endowment
The assets in your endowment are invested to earn income
The income is distributed annually to achieve your desired impact
You can make additions during your lifetime or supplement your endowment with your estate plan
Income distributed from your endowmentAt the time you create your endowment, you sign an endowment agreement that details the scope and desired impact of your endowment funds. Your funds will generally be invested to produce stable, predictable growth. Each year, a set percentage of your endowed funds will be distributed according to your endowment agreement.
