Attracting a diverse group of students from many racial and ethnic backgrounds, the department offers a bachelor's degree in modern Jewish studies and a minor in Jewish studies. SF State's Division of Diversity Equity and Community Inclusion is responsible for leading, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a broad range of sustained programs, initiatives, events, and activities designed to:

If you're looking to learn, check out the renowned Swig Program in Jewish Studies and Social Justice. Offering a minor, engaging courses, study abroad options, speakers series, workshops and cultural events, the program examines Jewish culture, history, politics, philosophy, and language to better understand and strengthen marginalized communities around the globe.
USF's University Ministry Center for Ignatian Spirituality builds strong interfaith coalitions and provides space for students as individuals to explore a variety of faith traditions. Providing social justice volunteer opportunities, immersion programs, spirituality retreats, University Ministry is designed to support an inclusive community that is contemplative in its search for truth and meaning. In addition, University Ministry provides beautiful space for the JSO to host it's monthly Shabbat dinners and a relaxing lounge for students between classes. As an affiliate minister, Talia can help you navigate how to get more involved with University Ministry happenings.

San Francisco Hillel has a new(ish) community at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM)!
Established in 2022 due to overwhelming student interest and outreach, our SF Hillel Springboard Fellows have hosted a number of socially and culturally enriching events for Jewish students at SFCM.

SF Hillel's Jewish Grad Student Network (JGSN) is a community for grad students and postdocs across our 4 graduate campuses: UCSF, USF, UC Law SF, and SF State. The JGSN provides grad students and postdocs with spaces to celebrate Shabbat and Jewish holidays, networking opportunities, and community.
