SF Hillel Grocery and Rent Assistance Application

Picture
Information on applying:
- On average, we are not able to provide more than $500 to a student in a month, and available funds depend on the number of applications each month. If your need exceeds $500, you are welcome to apply for more, but we cannot guarantee that the full amount requested will be granted. If you are in need of more assistance, please reach out to Sarah Rosemont (srosemont@sfhillel.org) for help getting connected with other financial assistance resources.
- We will only grant money to each student a maximum of 3 times per year and will give priority to students who have not yet recieved funds. You can apply more than 3 times if you did not recieve funds every time you applied.
- Grocery assistance will be provided in the form of a gift card to the indicated grocery store.
- Rent assistance will be provided in the form of a check. If you are selected to recieve rent assistance, SF Hillel will reach out to you to have you fill out a w-9 form. Depending on the amount granted, you may have to pay taxes on the funds provided.

Join the Here I Am initiative!
Whether you’re Jewish or an ally, record your video, and make your story heard.

“Here I Am” is a new initiative demonstrating the vibrancy, diversity, and values of the Bay Area Jewish community. Through grassroots storytelling videos, we seek to bring to light our personal experiences with antisemitism, and educate our neighbors how to be Jewish allies in this fraught moment. Add your voice to a growing chorus of Bay Area residents by signing up to get information and updates!

Have you experienced Antisemitism or inappropriate anti-Israel conduct on campus?

Sometimes, Jewish students and their allies experience or witness things at school that are inappropriate, unacceptable or uncomfortable. At Hillel, we want to help you have the best experience possible at school, and if something concerning happens, we're here to talk, and help (depending what you want to do).

We're here to connect you to other Jewish peers, wellness resources, as well as reporting incidents of bias.

We encourage students to report incidents of antisemitism, discrimination, or bias (with the option of confidentiality) using the form at reportcampushate.org and to fill out an incident report with their university. Your Hillel staff are here to support you.

Students at SF State can use this form to report to an incident to the bias incident education team.
Students at USF can use this form to report an incident to the bias education and resource team.

It’s time to stand up to antisemitism and share why you’re proud to be Jewish or an ally to Jewish students!

Use the hashtag #OwnYourStar to showcase YOUR Jewish pride or support for a Jewish friend — whether that’s a Star of David, hamsa, or chai necklace...or a Jewish experience that made you smile, or a photo with a Jewish friend.

Antisemitism has no place to hide when our stars come out!
