A year ago, there were devastating fires across Northern and Southern California, and hurricanes tragically swept across Houston, Miami, and Puerto Rico. There’s things we can do everyday to address climate change that’s worsening the impact of these disasters – recycling, composting, reducing our carbon footprint...but still we know these tragedies will keep coming. So while we don’t have the ability to fully prevent them, we know we have the opportunity respond.
This spring semester, join SF Hillel as we come together to volunteer with two of the many communities that need our help rebuilding.
1. During SFSU’s spring break, we are partnering with Repair The World’s Act Now Houston, to volunteer alongside local residents, while rebuilding homes and hearing their stories.
Every year we travel abroad and across the United States to serve communities in need. In the past few years our students have supported community building efforts in Costa Rica and Brooklyn, as well as responded to natural disaster relief work in Santa Rosa, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. We also routinely find ways to get involved in our own backyard, doing our small part to make San Francisco a better place. If you're interested in joining one of our Alternative Breaks trips or volunteer weekends, contact Emily to learn where we're headed next.
