I believe that when we forget people are human, atrocities happen. Being Jewish is about never letting a suffering soul go unnoticed. To help someone in need is to witness yourself in another. This Racial Justice Seminar gave me the kick that I needed.
I had been wanting to do more social justice, and Repair the World’s week-long program gave me the opportunity. The volunteering opportunity with Reading Partners was even better than I had anticipated. Volunteering with Books Through Bars and the prison poetry workshop really touched my heart. It made me realize that doing a little can make a huge difference in someone’s life. I commit to continue to serve with these organizations back in San Francisco.
